ESO Night Market Is Coming - Quick Breakdown Before Launch

The Night Market is ESO’s first-ever event zone, bringing a new PvE experience with faction progression, challenging content, and unique rewards. Here’s everything we know so far before launch.

ESO Night Market Is Coming - Quick Breakdown Before Launch

The Night Market, ESO’s first-ever event zone, is right around the corner and set to release on April 29th. It will be available for a limited time, closing on June 17th, but the developers have already confirmed it will return in future seasons. The event takes place in Fargrave, where you’ll be able to earn a variety of rewards throughout its duration. In this blog, I’m going to go over everything we know so far ahead of the official release.

A New Type of Event Zone

The Night Market isn’t your standard seasonal event. It’s designed as a dedicated PvE zone, with a much higher difficulty than typical overworld content. Set in Fargrave, part of the Deadlands DLC, the event will initially run until June 17th.

To get started, you’ll make your way to the Starlit Plaza, which acts as a central safe hub shared by all three factions. Once there, you’ll meet a mysterious figure known as the Curator, who introduces you to the event and helps set you on the path toward choosing a faction and beginning the main quest.

One of the most unique aspects of this event is its “here now, gone later” design, meaning it may return in future seasons, but not always in the same form. While it’s active, players can take on intense challenges and earn some highly rewarding loot.

Factions Will Drive Your Progress

One of the main overarching activities in the Night Market is joining a faction and completing tasks along the way to support them. There are three factions competing not only to uncover the zone’s secrets, but also to claim rewards throughout the event.

Glittering Goad – A faction built around the idea that power and wealth go hand in hand, where every opportunity comes with a price. If you’re looking to climb their ranks, you’ll need ambition and a worthwhile offering for their leader, the Dremora Tachien.

The Thousand Eyes – A faction led by Molto the Whisperer that prioritizes knowledge above everything else. They might not seem intimidating at first, but their numbers and ruthless approach make them just as dangerous as any other group.

The Ruckus – A faction focused on strength and combat, led by the fearsome Kharakhal Moon-Eye. Made up of both mortals and Daedra, they offer protection at a cost and are ready to shake things up in the Night Market.

When the event begins, you will choose one faction to join for the duration of the event. This choice shapes your progression, but it will not lock you out of any content, so you can still experience everything the Night Market has to offer.

As you play, you will earn Favor (reputation) with your chosen faction by completing activities and challenges tied to them. Your contributions also help your faction’s overall standing compared to the others.

If you are unsure about your choice, do not worry. You will have the chance to choose a different faction when the Night Market returns in future seasons. Each faction also has its own unique story quest, so you will definitely want to try a different one each time if you’re looking to experience everything the event has to offer.

Core Activities Inside the Night Market

After selecting your faction, you can start earning Favor by taking part in a variety of activities throughout the Night Market. This includes progressing through story, side, and daily quests, as well as jumping into unique challenges like Daring Races and Oddities.

You can also earn progress by fighting your way through the zone, whether that’s taking down regular enemies, participating in skirmish-style encounters, or going up against tougher bosses scattered across the area. Some of these bosses come in different tiers, offering increased difficulty and better rewards the stronger they are.

No matter what activities you decide to take part in, you’re sure to gain some Favor along the way. You can track your current faction Favor on the bottom right of your screen.

Rewards & Progression System

As your Favor increases, your reputation with your faction improves, unlocking access to new and more powerful items at faction vendors. Once unlocked, you can spend gold on rewards such as item sets, furnishings, relic fragments, and Monster Mask style pages.

Your progress also contributes to your faction’s overall placement. All three factions compete for the top spot, and each placement comes with different rewards.

  • First place earns gold, two small and two large furnishing banners, and a Legendary-quality faction monster set
  • Second place earns gold, two small furnishing banners, and an Epic-quality faction monster set
  • Third place earns gold and an Epic-quality faction monster set

You will be able to track your faction’s total Favor and compare it to others through the Activity HUD.

Group-Focused, But Maybe Soloable

The Night Market is designed to be experienced with other players, and the developers have mentioned several times that running this content with a group is the best approach. While you are free to jump in solo, the overall difficulty is meant to feel more challenging than typical overworld content, making teamwork a big advantage.

That said, grouping up is not required. You can explore the zone on your own and take on activities as you go, but having other players nearby can make a noticeable difference, especially during tougher encounters. The event is built to feel more social and dynamic, with multiple players and groups moving through the area at the same time.

My Plan Going Into It

At the moment, I’m mainly a solo player in ESO since most of my previous main guild isn’t currently active. I may try to take on some of the content solo if possible, but if not, I do have another guild that I just joined that’s planning to run it, so I’ll likely jump in with them as well.

I’ll definitely be starting on launch day and covering this content over the next month and a half. Once I’ve had time to fully experience everything, I’ll also be putting together a more in-depth guide on the Night Market.

Final Thoughts Before Launch

Overall, the Night Market feels like a big shift from the typical ESO event. With a stronger focus on progression and replayability, it looks like something players can keep coming back to rather than just running through once. That said, it’s still a bit early to fully judge how it will play out until it’s live. I’ll be diving into it on launch and will have more detailed content and impressions coming soon.
