Learn how the Tamriel Tomes system works in Elder Scrolls Online, including how to earn Tome Points, unlock rewards, and the differences between the free and premium battle pass tiers in Season Zero.

ESO Dawn & Dusk Tamriel Tomes Battle Pass Breakdown

ESO’s Season Zero: Dawn & Dusk – Tamriel Tomes officially launched on April 2nd. Tamriel Tomes functions as a battle pass-style progression system where players complete weekly and seasonal challenges to earn Tome Points. As you collect these points, you’ll gradually unlock cosmetics, collectibles, and other seasonal rewards.

In this guide, we’ll take a closer look at the Tamriel Tomes battle pass, including:

  • How the Tamriel Tomes progression system works
  • The differences between the free and premium reward tiers
  • All rewards available in both the free and premium tiers
  • Whether the Tamriel Tomes premium battle pass is worth it

How the Dawn & Dusk: Tamriel Tomes System Works

The Tamriel Tomes system works similarly to battle pass progression systems found in many other games. The pass includes 10 main pages and two bonus pages filled with both free and premium rewards that can be unlocked using Tome Points. As you earn points, you’ll progress through the pages of the pass, with each page requiring a certain number of points to unlock, and each reward also costing a set amount before it can be claimed.

The bottom section of each page contains the free rewards, while the top portion is the Premium tier, which requires a $14.99 USD purchase to claim those additional items. The Tamriel Tomes pass remains active for the entirety of Season Zero: Dawn & Dusk, which runs until July 8th. After that, a new season and a new Tamriel Tomes pass will replace it.

You can earn Tome Points by completing Weekly and Seasonal Challenges. You start with five weekly challenges, along with five rerolls, which get reset each week, if you want to swap any of them. Many challenges can be completed multiple times, often up to six, depending on the difficulty.

For example, gathering challenges often reward 60 Tome Points and can be completed six times, giving a total of 360 points. Meanwhile, I received a challenge to “Complete 1 public dungeon group event in Wrothgar,” which can be completed three times and rewards 175 Tome Points each time, for a total of 525 points.

Both options are worthwhile, but higher difficulty challenges tend to reward more Tome Points overall. If you’re trying to progress through the pass as quickly as possible, it can be worth using your rerolls to try and get some of the higher-paying challenges.

Free vs Premium

One of the biggest draws of the Tamriel Tomes battle pass is the variety of rewards available throughout its pages. From cosmetic collectibles to housing items and other bonuses, there are plenty of items to unlock as you earn Tome Points. Many of these rewards can be earned completely free by progressing through the pass.

There is also a paid Premium tier that unlocks additional rewards. The Premium upgrade costs $14.99 USD, while the Premium + Bonuses option costs $29.99 USD. This upgraded version includes access to all Premium rewards, two Caches of Tome Points, and a unique cosmetic item.

Let’s take a look at everything you can unlock in both the free and Premium reward tiers.

Is the Tamriel Tomes Premium Worth It?

Personally, I’ll probably pass on the Tamriel Tomes premium battle pass this time around. I’m not a huge fan of most of the outfit styles being offered, although I do think some of the weapon skins look nice. I also really like the wolf mounts, and I almost bought the pass a few times just for those.

That said, if you’re consistently playing ESO and like the items included in the pass, it could still be worth picking up. The $14.99 USD price is pretty standard for a battle pass, and it does provide quite a few extra rewards on top of the free items.

My recommendation would be to look through all of the rewards ahead of time and decide if the items are worth it for you. If you’re playing daily and expect to earn enough Tome Points to unlock everything, then the Premium pass could definitely be a good value.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Tamriel Tomes battle pass introduces a new progression system to The Elder Scrolls Online, offering players a mix of cosmetics, collectibles, housing items, and useful rewards as they earn Tome Points throughout the season. While the value will depend on how much you play and which rewards interest you most, it’s still a solid addition for players who enjoy unlocking seasonal content.

If you’re actively playing during Season Zero: Dawn & Dusk, it may be worth taking a closer look at the rewards to see if the pass fits your playstyle.
